Hello! Tonight, since I’m still not really cooking or eating much of anything worth mentioning, I thought I’d talk about some cool blogger stuff I’ve been gifted recently. I’m still planning on sharing my thoughts on my running, but I really want it to be it’s own post. So maybe tomorrow?
First, I realized I forgot to “publicly” thank Mara at What’s for Dinner for hosting an awesome cookbook giveaway…that I won! I mean, who else would win a book called Jewish Cooking Boot Camp but a fellow MOT?
I can’t wait to cook some of these recipes! What’s great about this book is that is has recipes written for real people, people who have jobs and lives and still want to prepare great food for their friends and family. I mean, anything that lists “vanilla pudding mix” as a pantry staple is a-ok with me. I have another Jewish cookbook and it’s beautiful, but the recipes in this book are SO more my style. Thanks, Mara and PopJudaica!
Next up, I won this little “award” from the awesome Leah over at Leftovers for Lunch, and I’m supposed to tell you seven random things about me. Thanks Leah! I love L4L so if you don’t read it yet, you really should
Anyway, here are 7 things about me:
- Although I’ve never gotten into an accident (knock on wood!) I am not what you’d call a “good” driver. I’ve noticed that when I’m going on outings with girlfriends and we’re carpooling…somehow it’s never my turn to drive. And since I don’t really like driving, I’m ok with this.
- My brother moved out to Washington DC in June after graduating college because his big sister convinced him to follow his dreams of working in politics and/or economics. Within the span of about two weeks, he was mugged and landed in the hospital with kidney stones. He’s better now, but for awhile there I was really thinking I’d messed the kid’s life up big-time with my worldly advice.
- I used to speak Spanish pretty well but I’ve lost nearly all of it. Considering I studied it for ten years, minored in it, and went to Spain to study abroad for 4 months, that fact makes me triste.
- My hands are always cold. At work, a volunteer told me, “cold hands, warm heart” so I am pretty much the most warm-hearted person there is.
- My favorite zoo animal is a giraffe. This is because when I was younger I was taller than most of my classmates, so I could relate.
- I’m a Jewish girl who does not like matzo balls. I love the broth it comes in but I always pawn my “balls” (heehee) on someone else at the Passover table.
- I’m also a San Diego girl who’s not a big fan of the beach. Well, more like, I’m not a fan of crowds or parking at the beach, but still. I’ve gone 3 times this summer and twice was when my friends from the East Coast were visiting
And now, I pass this award on to:
- Susan at The Great Balancing Act (enjoying her vaca right now)
- Melissa at Melissa Likes to Eat (San Diego pride!)
I’m off to pick up my CSA goodies for the week, then come home and get ready to do it all again tomorrow! I have my second-to-last weigh-in this Thursday for bootcamp, and although I’m not expecting anything fantastic (due to TOM and a bit of a chocolate bender over the weekend that I’d rather not talk about, thanks), I know I’m doing well overall with this program…and I’m thisclose to being done! It’s been a great experience and I’m looking forward to finishing it out strong, but I’m ready for it to be an experience in the past

You don’t like matzah balls?!?! what?! I’m not jewish, but I LOVE them! And, my hands are always cold too, seriously, it sucks. When it comes to speaking Spanish, well I took it for about 5 years and I can probably say about 10 words, pathetic.

Hi
My 30 minute rule is actually something I made up for myself. I get home alone and it’s a while until Ben gets home. The 30 minute rule is I “unwind” for 30 minutes before going into the kitchen. Sometimes I actually unwind by taking a shower and getting comfy, other times I just get on the computer.
