It’s been quite the 12 weeks, friends.
About a month into the program, I knew that time would go by really fast and before I knew it, I’d be finished with my bootcamp. And here we are.
Today was my last bootcamp workout, and tomorrow I’m going to have my “after” photo taken by a professional photographer (I’m not exactly looking forward to that, because I’m really busy tomorrow AND because there may have been some celebratory Mexican food consumed on Thursday night that makes me retain more water than a cactus. But whatever). Tomorrow night I’m going out to dinner with the other members of my group to celebrate, at which I’ll have my first alcoholic drink since Labor Day weekend.
(Side note: I am also running 5 miles tomorrow morning. I AM going to do it…I AM—can you tell there’s some self-convincing going on?. I’m really excited to reach that milestone.)
If you’re new to Healthy Twists or want to get an overall sense of my bootcamp progress, here is the background:
My first announcement about the bootcamp
This Thursday I had my final weigh-in. Here are the stats I’m going with for my overall results for this program. The weight loss is actually a little less because the first weigh-in was done at the end of the day and all the rest were first thing in the morning, but still:
Weight Loss: 12.7 lbs
Fat Loss: 17.66 lbs
Navel Inches Loss: 8.5
Total Inches Loss: 23.5
I’ve been working very hard for the past twelve weeks at this, as many of you know, so to have the results to show for it is really spectacular. I’ve also been living a life that is just not sustainable for the long-term (I’ll talk more about that in my next post) so I have that feeling that many people who have recently lost weight feel: “Cool, I’ve lost weight, now I really really really hope I don’t gain it back!”
Since I’ve had someone else tell me what I’m supposed to eat for every meal and snack for the past twelve weeks, I almost feel like I need to re-learn how to eat. I know I want most of my meals to focus on plenty of lean protein (gotta keep those muscles I’ve worked so hard to get), whole grains, veggies, and a moderate amount of healthy fats.
I think tonight’s dinner had all those components, don’t you?
Turkey burger on a sandwich thin with mustard, tomato, a few slices of avocado, and Pam-sautéed onions and a side salad with balsamic vinegar. Oh and a couple of Mitch’s baked French fries.
Off to watch The Office with my hunny and go to bed for my big run tomorrow! Wish me luck and confidence!

I hope the run goes well! Congrats on finishing the program. I can’t wait to see your pictures! Please feel free to ask me any questions as you “re-learn” how to eat
That’s the one complaint I have about programs such as this one, they tell you what to eat and don’t allow you to make those important decisions for yourself. You’re smart though, I know you will succeed in keeping the weight off. Did you loose a little extra for some “wiggle room”? The turkey burger looks AMAZING!
