Welcome to my first post on my “new” blog! Thanks for coming over from wherever you came
In order to celebrate the fact that I’ve hit 100 posts as a blogger, and the fact that I finally moved to my own self-hosted website, I put together a little giveaway. Basically, I grabbed a bunch of stuff that I would want to get if I were entering the contest. And I made sure to include some Trader Joe’s goods, for those poor souls who don’t live near a TJ.
Here’s what you win:
- Sweet:
- Ghirardelli dark chocolate bar with mint filling
- PB&J bar: peanut butter, milk and dark chocolate, and raspberry jam (never tried this…but OMG it sounds amazing)
- Green tea flavored mints (love these)
- Gummi Bears (110-calorie pack)
- Savory:
- 21-seasoning salute (salt-free seasoning blend; great on chicken and veggies)
- Single-serving popcorn (2 bags; 110 calories per bag)
- Energy:
- Apple Pie Larabar (2)
- Oatmeal Walnut Raisin Clif bar (1)
- Chocolate chip Clif Z-bar (2)
- Warm Beverages:
- White tea, pomegranate flavor (my new obsession)
- Rooibus red chai tea (decaf)
- Grains:
- sample pack of organic instant oatmeal (Whole Foods brand, all natural of course)
- Dairy:
- Stonyfield gift pack (not pictured): 1 free 16 oz Oikos coupon, 4 free 5.3 oz Oikos coupons and a reusable bag.
So how do you win?
Per usual, you have a few chances to enter:
- Update your blogroll/blog reader with www.healthytwists.com and leave a comment or email me letting me know you did so. Only if you want to, of course!
- Follow me on Twitter and Tweet about this contest (make sure you put @hallieaviva in your Tweet so I see it).
- Leave me a comment with an idea of what I can do for homemade holiday gifts this yeat for Christmas/Hanukkah. Keep in mind I’m poor, not super artsy, and I don’t want to do something food-related (since there is enough of that stuff around the holidays without me adding to the cookie situation). Or leave me a comment telling me what you think of my new blog, if you are like me and can’t think of cool gift ideas.
- Link back to this contest on your blog and let me know you did so.
(Contest only open to US residents. Sorry, Canadian friends!)
That’s FOUR chances to win! I hope this contest spreads the word about my new blog, and also thanks my readers who have put up with my silly antics and random postings over the course of this year. I love being a part of the blogging community and hope the blog only gets better as I keep working on it and writing posts that people want to read.
THANKS to Stonyfield for being the only company to agree to give something away to a reader! Everything else I bought myself. Seriously, what a great—and smart—company, right?
In other news…I have my next weigh-in tomorrow. I don’t think it’s going to go that well, but I know that I really am giving this program everything that I have so I have to be happy for that. I’m halfway through the program and I am counting down the days. As a foodie, not being able to eat what I want is killing me. I know I have to sacrifice to get what I want…but it’s hard. A good learning experience if nothing else, but really freaking hard.
GOOD LUCK on the giveaway! I’ll take entries until midnight PST on Friday, September 11, and announce the winner on Saturday.

Framed photos always are a go to plan when you cant think of anything, or maybe a slideshow of digital pictures that your friends and family can display on their computers.
I would love to win all those goodies!!!

I would say bake something cute for the holidays such as gingerbread cookies or pumpkin chocolate chip cookies!

so glad you did this because I haven’t found your blog yet (how did I miss it?!) Looks great!
I am broke too- am thinking I might make nice jars of muesli/oatmeal bases as gifts for people since nobody I know in real life does anything more than add some milk and sugar to their oats. Dried fruit, nuts/seeds, chocolate chips, etc
For non-foodie gifts… Buying some plain picture frames is good (I get cheap ones at IKEA) and making cool individualised collages to frame
Added you to my reader- again, so glad I found your blog!

I’m not at all creative either (though I have to say thank you – I think I’m going to browse the comments for holiday ideas myself!) and I do admit I was linked here through feedmeimcranky, but I’d love to comment on the new blog! I really like the clean layout of it – it’s really easy to read, and the recipes are highlighted and easy to see. I also really like the links that you provide to current news stories/outside sources, etc. Overall it looks great!

You could always put upload pictures to CVS or a nicer photography place (Kodak, or a store near you) and make mugs, or placemats, or hats or whatever you would like with specific pictures on them of family and friends. Some places will even make photobooks for you!

I just updated my blog reader to include your new blog. Thanks for the chance to win!

Well, my blog died of malnourishment and I don’t Tweet, so I’ll leave you a suggestion for cheap gifts. If you have a picture printer, print a pic of you and the recipient, or just a really good one of them, and send it in a nice Christmas/Hannukah card. Or get cheap frames at the Christmas Tree Shop. My friend Lia made me a bookmark once, with the story of how we met and how awesome I was and decorated it with butterflies. The bookmark was of course a perfect gift for me, and it was very sweet and I smile every time I use it. Ok, now I want to win the contest

[...] of all, thank you to everyone who Tweeted, commented, and passed on the notice about my giveaway. You still have a few hours to enter if you haven’t yet! Secondly, if you added me to your blog [...]
Maybe you can buy some ring blanks (cheap) and then glue some random trinkets to them… Ta-da! Rings. LOL

My fave non expensive holiday gift is pictures! I haven’t read enough of your blog yet to know if you have kids or a significant other, but take the pic youself, go somewhere and have it blown up and that will be a cherished gift that can be kept forever!

The perfect holiday gift to give to someone would probably be:
A framed photo of you and whoever you desire to give the gift too.
You can even put a cute quote or a memory that you had together as the title of the picture! Pretty cheap, very creative, and something the person will want to keep forever!
