Hola! I wanted to thank everyone for their thoughts on my numbness issues that I mentioned in my last post. I did get the shoes from a running store, but I got the “newer” version of the shoes I got there last time, so maybe I should have spent more time looking at other options. I also want to look into how to tie my laces properly, so thanks for the advice, friends!
On Saturday night, I asked my friend’s roommate, who is an athletic trainer, for her opinion (gotta love hitting up friends for free medical advice!). She said that the numbness might be related to the tightness I’ve been feeling in my calves, and I should focus on stretching before and after running, obviously with more emphasis and deeper stretching after. She also said that it’s really important to stretch out these areas: calves, hamstrings, quads, butt, and hips. So I’ve been doing that since then, and I think it’s helping…? I’m just making sure that my pre-run stretches are really light.
Less than a week until the 10k…eeek! I’m getting pretty nervous and excited.
Anywho, this past weekend I went to my friend Lydia’s house for a small Halloween get-together. It was pretty low-key, but that’s how I prefer to party, so it was great to get together with my friends, drink some “spiked” apple cider, eat some candy, and of course, dress up! Can you guess who we were?
See the Ed Hardy t-shirt, the ridiculous blond hairdo, the eight kids? Yes, Mitch and I were Jon and Kate! I bought the wig online, we found the t-shirt on Ebay, and Mitch dyed his hair black using that hair spray stuff. It was so fun…Mitch kept “not listening” to anything I told him to do and I kept telling him to get away from my money.
I better run because I’m already going to be late for work, but I wanted to show you my lovely cereal bowl that I ate for breakfast this morning:
This was 1/2 cup Cinnamon Puffins, 1/2 cup Kashi Heart 2 Heart, 1 T flax, 5 oz nonfat Greek yogurt (underneath all the good stuff!), and two secret food items that I will talk about more in my next post. Oh, the suspense! Any guesses?
What was the best costume you saw this weekend, if you went out or had trick-or-treaters? My friends came dressed as peanut butter and jelly, and their homemade costumes were SO creative (I didn’t post a photo because I don’t know if they’d want to be on the blog or not…trust me though, it was great!)

Hahaha, I love your costumes!!! I was totally able to guess it before scrolling down too
Hmm, what’s that red stuff?? Jam? It kind of looks like sweet and sour sauce, but I don’t think you’d put that on cereal

LOVE LOVE LOVE THE COSTUME!! I’ll admit, I knew who you were by looking at Mitch, great outfit. Kate’s hair is awful and it’s hard to find a wig like that, but man, you guys were clever! Love the idea of PB&J too. Nick doesn’t like to dress up, what a HUGE bummer!

Cute costume idea! Your breakfast looks great. The best costume I saw was a man who was dressed as Spiderman. I know it sounds silly, but he was 40 ish and had even the mask.
