Week 10 Weigh-In Recap

Happy Sunday! It’s cool here in San Diego this morning, and I’m out to tackle four miles (again!) once my toast digests. How is your weekend going?

I cannot believe it’s already been ten weeks for my 12-week bootcamp program. I’ve learned a lot and I know I look better than I have in a really long time, but it’s been so hard for me mentally (at at times, physically) that I really am ready to move on to something else in my health/fitness journey.

Here are my stats for last week’s weigh-in:

Weight Loss: 9.5  lbs

Fat Loss: 12.52  lbs

Navel Inches Loss: 6.25

Total Inches Loss:  15.25

The stats all indicate—on paper—that I’ve gained fat since the last weigh-in. And I’m up about a pound and a half. I choose to chalk this up to TOM because I always retain water during that time. I think the biggest thing about these stats is that I don’t really care what the numbers say. I feel great, and I know I look good, and that’s all I care to focus on for now.

At the store yesterday I bought a pair of jeans in a size 8 and they fit…not barely, but they fit WELL. (Oh and they were Lucky brand, marked down from $110 to $45 and I paid for it with a gift card, yay) I think for anyone who’s ever been heavy, getting into “single digits” in clothing is a milestone, so yesterday was a big day for me. In high school, I wore a size 16, snugly.

I know the exercise and meal plan I’m on now is not sustainable for the long-term, but ideally I’d like to lose a little more weight. If I don’t, oh well, but I’d be lying if I said I don’t want to. I like how being lighter makes running easier. But, I’m so tired of the “dieting” I’ve been doing for the past ten weeks. I’d really forgotten how HARD it is to lose weight.

But moving on…well, sorta. One of the things I can’t wait to do once this program ends is get back into cooking. I miss “real” cooking SO much and I know Mitch misses knowing what he’s having for dinner instead of having to figure it out himself :-) . In addition to cooking, I want to start experimenting more with baking, especially as we head into holiday time (yay!). I told my mom this and instead of letting me borrow her stand mixer, as I had requested, she gave me this:

This is the KitchenAid 7-Speed Ultra-Power Hand Mixer, in "Cook for the Cure Komen Foundation Pink"and I’m not going to lie, I’m excited! Before I had this, I couldn’t bake anything that required me to “cream butter and sugar together” or “whip until soft peaks form.” Now I can! So my important question on this Sunday to you is:

Now that I have this new kitchen toy, what should I bake?

Hey Hallie, just a thought on losing a little extra weight after the program – I lost my last 10 pounds (and dress size) AFTER I started maintaining what I thought would be the end of my weight loss. I know it’s different for everybody, but once I started finding activities I loved doing all the time, and eating in a way that came naturally to me, it just came off over the course of six months or so.

I would makes something that requires hard egg whites because i can never do that either!

  3. I totally understand about the “diet” issue. I feel like I’m always on some sort of a weight loss program (right now it’s Weight Watchers) and I, too, can’t wait to be in maintence mode so I can bake and cook a little more “regular” foods. But I’m scared that once I start baking/cooking like I used to, I’ll put weight on….guess I just need to find a healthy balance!

Bake some chocolate chip cookies, with pumpkin in them. haha, everything pumpkin!

Congrats on the weight loss, and fitting into size 8 jeans! That is just so amazing, you should be so proud of yourself for all of your hard work. And, I can’t BELIEVE the deal you got on a pair of Lucky jeans!

Regarding your comment on my blog, I suppose I could have said “no thanks” to the waiter, because you are right, I am probably one of the few people who gets mad when waiters/waitresses do that. I used to serve and I never refilled children’s cups without asking, so I assume no one does. I have to remind myself I am an RD and I think about that stuff all the time. I told the guy thanks, but let that one be the last refill, please :)

that is so awesome about the size 8 pants! yay for you! I bake all the time and I’m always altering the recipes to make them super healthy…it’s the only way I feel good baking (in exception to thanksgiving and christmas where I do the real deal sugar loaded pies, cakes and cookies!) I’m always posting recipes on my blog. Good job working out and losing! Keep up the great work!
