First of all, thank you to everyone who Tweeted, commented, and passed on the notice about my giveaway. You still have a few hours to enter if you haven’t yet! Secondly, if you added me to your blog reader, I feel like I have to say I won’t be sad if you delete me later (I admit, I’ve done that in the past) but I hope you stick around for at least a little while and if you do decide to stop following me, shoot me an email and tell me why. I’m all about making my blog the best it can be and I’ll take any feedback, good or bad. And in six weeks I PROMISE to cut the dieting talk and get back to sharing recipes, healthy cooking tips, adventures in baking, lame photos, and much more.
Moving on…to yesterday’s bootcamp weigh-in. I can’t believe I’m already halfway through this 12-week program. I knew going into the weigh-in that it wasn’t going to be great, and I was right in that assumption. Here are the stats:
Weight Loss: 4.9 lbs
Fat Loss: 12.29 lbs
Navel Inches Loss: 7
Total Inches Loss: 18
Now, those numbers man not look half bad, but after six weeks of intense workouts and eating a fairly low-carb and reduced-calorie diet, I should have lost more than 5 pounds in 6 weeks. And in fact, last time I was at a loss of 5.3, so I actually gained a little weight. Surprisingly though, I’m feeling ok about it…now anyway. Here’s why:
- I know the scale reflected some water retention. It happens, ladies. You know.
- I’ve been sticking to the program nearly perfectly most of the time, but I had my girlfriends from college visit and I went a little nuts on Saturday night. One can’t consume seven cocktails (uh, I estimate) and eat tapas and expect to lose weight. Oh and two the night before. But in the grand scheme of life, having a good time with my ladies was more important, and I’m at peace with that decision.
- I’m feeling more fit and stronger than I have in a really long time, and I feel like I’m accomplishing something by sticking this program out. A scale reading can’t take that away from me.
- The (relative) lack of progress has me REALLY motivated to kick some booty and give it everything I’ve got for the next 6 weeks. That includes getting enough sleep, taking all my vitamins, and sticking to the NO COFFEE rule (not sure why it’s banned, but I’m following orders!).
- I’m starting my 10k training program, and the extra cardio will be good for me physically. It’ll also be good for me emotionally, to have a goal that’s unrelated to weight loss.
- I’m having some non-scale victories. My clothes are fitting better, and I’m getting back into the habit of consistent workouts…I’m really proud of myself for hitting the gym Monday through Friday because I can’t remember the last time I did that.
So, do any of you have any goals you’re working on (don’t have to be weight-related at all!)? How’s it going? What’s holding you back or moving you forward?
Tomorrow I’ll announce the winner of the giveaway and do a recap of gift ideas for anyone who, like me, wants to do homemade gifts for the holidays this year but needs some new ideas. You guys are coming up with some great ones!

I just posted about your giveaway
Regarding your weight loss, I’m not sure how much you weigh and how much you were hoping to lose, but I’m assuming it’s maybe 10-20 pounds? If so, 5 pounds is amazing! It’s really hard to loose weight when you don’t have much to lose, so I think you have done quite well.
My goal is to relax and cut down my caffeine intake. I’ve already cut it almos tin half this summer, which is HUGE for me!

Wow Hallie, I think your results are still fantastic. I’m confused by the 5 lb weight loss though. 7 inches around the navel was almost a 30 lb weight loss for me. I know no two bodies are the same, but that’s still a big difference!
Yay for 10k training! I’m doing my first one next weekend!
My most recent goal has been to start doing more cooking rather than “food preparation.” So far so good!
